Joey Anderson | Fall Off Face | Dekmantel

Joey Anderson Fall Off FaceListen

The New Jersey producer’s abstract, pitch-black take on house has been finding more and more fans this year, with solo releases and remixes filtering out steadily on labels like Latency, Acid Test and his own Inimeg Recordings. (He also mixed the 380th edition of the RA Podcast.) That sound should be well at home on Dekmantel, the Amsterdam-based label and party crew that’s home to such fellow travelers as Juju & Jordash, Vakula and Mark du Mosch (who has an EP set to drop on the label imminently). The three tracks on Fall Off Face are a teaser for Anderson’s debut album, which Dekmantel says they’ll be releasing early next year. Hear clips of all three right now on the label’s SoundCloud page.

Tallmen785 | What You Need | TANSTAAFL Records

Tallmen785 What You NeedListen

TANSTAAFL subsidiary TANSTAAFL Planets recently posted up samples for their second release.
Coming from the clunkily named Tallmen 785 (who produces as both Tallmen and 785, though in this instance both names have been shoehorned in), TANSPLAN002 offers up two acidic disco cuts on one 12″ from the Berlin/Bristol label.

The original throws together some speaker testing low end with a female vocal sample that by dint of it’s application manages to not get annoying. The hats are also great, imparting an energy to the beat that the simple addition of a single element can sometimes do.
The Disco mix features a boomy kick and a slightly sparser arrangement though is fairly similar in tone to the original, if suited a little more for playing earlier in the set.

John Osbourne is an able curator, and with releases from the likes of Kowton and Joey Anderson planned TANSTAAFL Planets will no doubt be one to watch in 2014. Worth checking is their first outing, Kel’s Irritant EP, a techno jaunt from one half of Swedish dons Skudge as well as TANSTAAFL’s tastefully limited catalogue (Osborn’s own Epoch4 went unjustly under appreciated).

Various Artists | 100DSR/VAR4 | Delsin

Various Artists 100DSR-VAR4Listen

The on-going celebration of Delsin reaching 100 releases continues here with the 4th in the series of 100DSR releases. Featuring key label friends Redshape, D5 and Area Forty_One, it’s another compelling package.

First up is the famous masked one with a track specially made to celebrate the centenary. Fittingly it is entitled ‘100 (Classic Mix)’ and finds him in a doleful mood, layering sad synth motifs of a hubbub of nicely crushed drums and scurrying percussion. Sad but optimistic, uplifting but heavy-hearted, it’s a quintessential Redshape track that manages to be industrial and romantic at exactly the same time.

Next up is D5, who has basically only ever released on Delsin since emerging in 2001. It’s be a few years since his last EP, but this new track makes the wait worth while: ‘Stem Cell’ is a light-footed, harmonically enriched bit of house that has large opens spaces glowing golden white as paddy kicks keep busy below. A blissful but purposeful track, the final offering comes from sometime Ann Aimee producer Area Forty_One, who offers the dynamic and juddering bit of deep techno that is ‘Supervoid’.

Marcello Napoletano | Rush EP | What Ever Not

Marcello Napoletano Rush EP Listen

An Italian proverb says there is no two without a three, and as you can see by the title this is the third release from label What Ever Not. This time around for WEN003, bosses Dan Mela and partner Dodi Palese pick there friend Marcello Napoletano, who presents a different four track extended player titled Rush. Marcello is no new producer in the deep house panorama starting up in 2007 on Radiance, and since then releasing among others also on famous labels as Mathematics Recordings this being one of his greatest supporters, YORE, Quintessentials, Laid, and in 2012 also founding his wax only Marcello Vinyl which so far features three releases. As is expected Rush EP features Marcello Napoletano going into his old school raw deep Chicago house influenced sound, with the four very distinct different mood tracks titled; And Now A Grace’s Grass Joint, Rush, Almanacco, and Survivor. For the different moods the tracks in WEN003 present, I will call them the Good, Bad, Ugly, and the Romantic, taking stint from an old Italian Western movie by Sergio Leone. The good mood track is And Now A Grace’s Grass Joint. Bad mood goes to the deep and dark Rush. Ugly is definitely the track titled Survivor which also features an interesting sample from Lil Louis I Called U and is the most peak timers of the tracks. Romantic is surely Almanacoo which inspires to old school New York soulful garage sounds. A must have!

Three frisky, disco-infected house heaters from Recloose. On top you’ll find the shuffling, latinate drum programming, warm chords and nagging vocal of It’s Too Late’ and the disco-bassed filter house of ‘You Just Love You’. Downtown it’s a kinkier New Jersey garage flex called ‘Backtrack’ riding with tidy organ licks, shoulder-dipping drums and those signature, uplifting synthline vibes.

Drexciya | Journey of the Deep Sea Dweller IV | Clone Classic Cuts

Drexciya Journey of the Deep Sea Dweller IVListen

First part of the Drexciya re-issue series! Drexciya might need an introduction for some, for others it is the most influential techno project ever. Part of the heritage of Detroit’s Underground Resistance, Drexciya explored techno music like no-one else before. Raw and uncompromising music that reflects the harsh environment of the city where Drexciya was conceived. The aesthetics and the mythical approach combined with the unique music made this one of the biggest cult projects in techno music. Drexciya arguably stands for the darker side of techno and electro, music not only made for the club scene, but a further development of the music as an expression and extension of the mind. 20 years after the release of ”Deep Sea Dweller” (their first release), and 10 years after ”Grava 4” (their last), we present ”Journey Of The Deep Sea Dweller”. This series is an almost complete collection of their early works, and is remastered from the original master tapes. Since the original releases have such a strong character, appeal and stand on their own, this re-issue can never re-create the magic of those originals. So instead we stirred up the catalogue taking the tracks out of their original context, giving the ‘in the know’ listener a fresh experience and the new listener a document that is the best possible introduction to the aquatic world of Drexciya.

Class techno tools from Ben Sims, backed with a smart Marcelus remix. Sims’ originals work a tuffer vein of driving 909s and white noise on ‘Spectrum’ and a drilling alarm coda on ‘Orbit’. B-side Sims goes deeper with the tunnelling modulations of ‘Power Surge’ and Marcelus provides a cool counterpoint with the Parisian techno-house swing of his ‘Spectrum’ remix.

Stanley Schmidt | Won’t You Listen to Me | Rivulet Records

Stanley Schmidt WonListen

„YOU“ is the debut single from Stanley Schmidt and aims between Chicago-House with lots of sample-work and topical bassline-house, just like Stanley does in his DJ-Sets. The A Side comes with a peaktime track wich sounds like coming back directly from the 90s with a huge bassline, vocal-sample and the sounds of analoge drum-machines. The cooperation with the mysterious Claus Scholze wich can be find on the B-Side is a declera- tion of love to all the tracks only can be played on afterhours. Its about flushing feelings, smoove basslines and a sentimental vocal. The duo Kim Brown who recently released there groundbreaking „Spring Theorie“ on Just Another Beat delivers a very appropriate remix of the A Side by working out the power of the bassline.

According to some reviewers Aniara03 is ”Idiosyncratic non-conformist house music”… and yes, we do agree with those words!

Cassegrain & Tin Man | High and Low | KILLEKILL

Cassegrain & Tin Man High and LowListen

CASSEGRAIN & TIN MAN are a deadly combination. Old school acid lines programmed by one of the greatest masters in this field meet a super modern techno sound design by Cassegrain, who have made themselves a name in the last years for producing some of the finest in dark and experimental techno. For the follow up to their debut release on KILLEKILL they have put together three tracks that are outstand- ing. HIGH & LOW is a slowly swelling minimalistic acid epos of over 10 minutes length which proves the mas- tership of Tin Man in programming acid loops of eternal quality. 8 beats length only, but constantly evolving. No chance for boredom. The B-side starts with SEX KIT, a dark acid stomper with a chirping percussion which is well suitable for the peaktime dancefloor, followed by SAND MAZE, a sublte minimalistic ambient acid piece, that winds its way into total dissolution. We are quite sure that this is the way acid should sound in 2013.

Double K Esprit de la jungleListen

Mr Raoul K kept this track a long time in his drawer. He always felt that something was missing. And he didn’t want to put out a track he wasn’t feeling comfortable with. During a visit of Kuniyuki in Mr Raoul K’s studio, he played the track to him. After Kuniyuki proposed some new ideas, they decided to finish the track and release under their new alias Double K…
They have come up with an atmospheric sixteen minute journey with constantly changing atmosphere. Starting off softly, almost tiptoe-ing ‘Esprit De La Jungle’ begins an expedition into the inner jungle. Accompanied by Kuniyuki’s subtle flute and keyboards and graced with Wiltrud Weber’s awesome vocals, the track provides constantly changes its mood and is full of surpises. Expect the unexpected after every turn. Mr Raoul K’s beats blend in very slowly and do not take over until the very end. Close your eyes on the dancefloor and find yourself exploring the secrets of the unknown, feeling the real Esprit Of The Jungle.

We were looking forward to this release: Marco Resmann’s new EP on Watergate Records. A 3 track EP with a nice remix of Steve Bug. The EP starts off with “Life About To Change”, a vocal-based track whose dreamy synth-scapes wind around a deeply reduced beat structure.

The second track, whose name is reminiscent of Marco’s summer-Thursday-residency on the Waterfloor, begins playful and timid, but picks up speed gradually after its first break. “Thursdate” comes with a massive remix by the Pokerflat-mastermind Steve Bug.

Marco Resmann – Life About to Change EP is out now, in vinyl and digital format.

“I’ve intended to do an album for a long while. The tracks draw upon ideas going back to various points over the last 12 years or so – some of the hooks I wrote years ago, other bits are brand new. In some ways I wanted it to reflect a personal arc and the way I tend to do things – never rushed” After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, ? [Phase] released his debut album ‘Frames Of Reference’ on Token this fall. It earned him outstanding reviews at Resident Advisor (“a display of real power and finesse” 4/5), in DJmag (“a calculated masterpiece” 9,5/10), at XLR8R (“sticks out as an alternate route to the heart of machine music’s appeal” 8/10), Groove Magazine (“pulsating techno in which every sonic details fits”) and more. After the double a-sided first single ‘On The Edge / Perplexed’ in June, we now bring you the 2nd single. ‘Dirtro II’ is definitely one of the standout cuts of the album and shows ? [Phase] in his darkest and deepest mood. On the b-side he is joined by one of his biggest inspirations & one of techno’s most legendary innovators: Robert Hood. The result is a carefully executed yet explosive peak time cut. ? [Phase] x Robert Hood x Token. It had to happen one day.

As the year gets closer to its end, Serenades wraps it up with a smooth VA release called ‘Late Night Serenades Vol.1’ – As the name suggests, the release is a compilation of brand new smooth tunes perfect for late night. (Or early morning. Which ever you prefer). First we have the super talented young producer duo from Holland The Planty Herbs (Wax On) with their timeless Deep House masterpiece ‘Mood’. With the perfect sample layering and the smooth bass lines this one will get your head nodding. Secondly we have a new bouncy tune from the label head Roberto Rodriguez called ‘Pom’ which takes it’s name from the tunes slight reggae vibe. This ones slightly more to the floor. The third one is a lovely chordy tune called ‘Salt’ from a young talented producer from the US called Evan Iff (Dirt Crew, Large and Seven Music). Deep and smooth. The final track of the release comes from the finnish dj/producer Toni Halo from the Kingfishers fame. Raw and funky is the name of the game.

Light Year Twin Turbo 024 - Pumpt

Listen

IGHT YEAR continues his evolution following releases on This is Music and Convex Industries with a huge EP for Twin Turbo.

Jordan ‘Lead Foot’ Feller (pronounced Fellah) has clearly learned new tricks since relocating to Europe, getting his head pounded in London’s warehouse parties, mastering the weight and heft of his kick drum, stripping things down to the tough essentials.

The title track does exactly what the name promises. It’s a big-room UK club pumper. If ‘Pumpt’ is the peak time party bomb, ‘Push On’ is what leads you through the after-hours, while ‘What to Do’ goes even deeper, begging the question, is there anything more to wring out of this night? YES.

All three tracks have a distinct sound, with punchy grooves built around short, soulful vocal samples. The festival-tested Aussie has successfully honed in on a new direction here without betraying his other nickname: ‘floor-filler-Feller.’

Jules & Moss | Gil’s Big Packet | Fantastic Friends Recordings

Jules & MossListen

Jules & Moss present 3 tracks of what they can do best: toxic groove, dynamic drums and sensual voices.« Gils Big Packet» is a shorn track, an anthem to wet dreams, sprinkled of hushed up growls and sugestive sighs. The keyboard dialogs with the over-testosteronized voice, itself supported by an insanely groovy bassline.« Geecker feat Laurette » and its sensual lady voice, is the equivalent of « Gil Big », but a feminin one : fragile and tender, in higher frequencies, a bit more hussy, a little less salacious but as much exciting. An invitation to debauchery in lace.In « Wagon Later » the groove is more intense, the voices more ethereal, more weird and kind of far away like real sirens supplications you can’t resist. A track that will let turn dancefloors mad and get the temperature increased of a few degrees. Mihai Popoviciu’s remix is one atmospheric and powerful track, that will even let dance the lazziest asses in the clubs as its groove is hypnotic as hell. The Cheapers remix, lead by a sexy round bassline and vocals à la Alan Vegas, is an excellent one either. Delicate and sensual. Until the very end.

XDB, Steven Tang, and Carsten Jost & DJ Richard rework the poised deep house of Lawrence’s ‘Films & Windows’ album. ‘Angels at Night’ is reframed in contrasting perspectives; XDB reworks it with gritty shuffle and lovely mystic house vibes building to a stepping finale, and Steven Tang tempers it to a ghostly, driving sound somewhere between Jamal Moss and Convextion. Lawrence’s Dial Records co-founder, Carsten Jost and White Material’s DJ Richard give ‘Marlen’ a rolling, sub-aquatic techno-house revision.

If Loco Dice, Art Department, Audiojack, Damian Lazarus, Solomun, Florian Meindl and many other top league DJs freak out about your first release – you can be sure this artist has a good start into the scene. BLACK LOOPs’ first EP on Toy Tonics had such a feedback. And so the label urged the guys to come up with a second EP asap. Here it is. And it will blow you away. The two Italian born, Berlin living kids don’t joke. Heavy bass driven, extremly funky hard house tracks to get the hands in the air. No wonder the boys are so funky: One of the guys is a rock drummer and the second a funk skilled DJ who have been djing all over Italy for the last 4 years. Now they come up with this great 2nd single. Including a heavy remix by S.K.A.M.

Chymera & Naum Gabo | Speicher 76 | Kompakt Extra

Chymera & Naum GaboListen

Starting out in 2001 to tie up some loose ends from our regulars, SPEICHER has since become a guarantee for vanguard dance sounds from all over the planet, allowing KOMPAKT to invite and support electronic artists that comfortably inhabit both the delicate and the more deliberate ends of the electronic music spectrum. For SPEICHER 76, two Irish acts crank up the volume for a healthy dose of sweaty, delirious techno – both acclaimed tracksmith CHYMERA and renowned Speicher favorite NAUM GABO hail from the green island… as is reflected in the color choice of this latest instalment in the series.

Brendan Gregoriy aka CHYMERA causes havoc in the scene since the mid-noughties, having honed a very personal, highly expressive approach to techno’s prime time tropes. UNDER THE SLIP is no different, stacking up abrasive synths and arse-kicking percussion for a pulse-accelerating rollercoaster ride through the night. It’s at the track’s middle mark, however, when a particularly funky bassline shines a different light on the dance floor, elevating the track to whole new level.

NAUM GABO’s Jonnie “JG” Wilkes might be best known for his part in the OPTIMO roadshow, but to Speicher enthusiasts, he’s a well-established acquaintance responsible for several bangers from the early period of the series. Now, he returns with ENOUGH LEAD TO MAKE ME HEAVY, a psychotic, iridescent techno workout drilling its way into the listener’s frontal lobe – and doing so with gusto: it’s an aptly named flipside whose focus vibes with the more muscular dance floors. Together, these tracks make for a perfectly tailored Speicher release catering to all your stomping needs.

DJ Koze Amygdala (Remixes, Pt. 1)

Listen

Matthew Herbert vs. DJ Koze take two! Yet another stroke of genius! When these two troublemakers collide, the result is somehow always awesome. After the huge success of DJ Kozes remix for Matthew Herberts classic Its only (#1 on the RA Charts for two consecutive months), Herbert insisted on returning the favor, delivering an instant classic for Kosi Kos. And what a track! His 10 minute remix for Magical Boy featuring Matthew Dear is indeed magical, fired by the fantastic and totally unexpected voice of singer Rahel, who transforms the track into a song and gives it a whole new drive. Even Matthew Dear briefly sends off a greeting from a passing cloud. A great spectacle from old master Matthew Herbert, goose bumps guaranteed. Efdemin strikes back, hotter than ever! In his remix for La Duquesa, the deep house legend delivers a deep, subtle, galactic, sound spectacle. These 8 minutes are a powerful cosmic trip with an elegant futuristic sound design, tons of heat and unexpected twists. When all the particles blast away after the break in the middle leaving only the dry beat and bass, the sedated closed-eyes dancers will wake up as the spaceship carves its way to infinity and beyond. These days, only a badass like Efdemin can produce a sound like this.

Our main goal with this EP and with any other music we make is, first of all both of us need to be happy with the end result.” Sonogama makes their debut on Kindisch with ‘The Chant’, a deep 2 track EP with analogue warmth. ‘The Chant’ is a deep track relying on a deep rhythmic bass and a crispy percussion to guide the track into the night. Vocal cuts put a human touch on the electronic wonder, while the bass line rolls on. ‘Try This’ is a dub tech track with a steady heat behind it. The pads and the chords blend together to form a great ambience perfectly suited for late night underground gatherings. Together the tracks make a solid argument for Sonogama, and we’re proud to have them on Kindisch.

Detroit Swindle | Unfinished Business EP | Freerange

Detroit Swindle Unfinished Business EPListen

2013 has definitely been the year of Amsterdam’s very succesful duo Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets, aka Detroit Swindle. They trotted the globe to pleasure crowds with their distinctive sound. This summer they have been frequently playing festivals all over Europe like Get Physical On IbizaOverground Festival in Switzerland,Straf_Werk Festival and Gaasperpleasure in Amsterdam and are now touring through Europe each and every weekend. I’m sure their booker must be running into a burnout pretty soon.

Their previous EP The Break Up had already proven that Detroit Swindle is more than just a DJ act. And this week Lars and Maarten released their much-anticipated follow-up Unfinished Business, under the Freerange Recordsimprint. The EP contains three originals and a remix and is all but unfinished. The cut kicks off with the title track, which lays the focus heavily on a funky swaying percussion pattern, and a repeating Chicago-style vocal hook. Drifting organ stabs make up the melody that doesn’t seem to sound either happy or minor, but damn catchy instead.

Next up: Under the Spell, is carrying a super tight rhythm through a strict marching pattern of the hats orchestrated by the rude kick that’s keeping those bastards in line. Soon after, the hook starts setting in along with the cool, mellow harmonics. It’s getting louder.. And clearer.. What follows is just an explosion nearly two minutes in, where the female vocals are crunched, nearly pulverized, only to land a drop that makes you pray to God in every language you know. It’s a banger, a classic, a revelation, a statement, whatever you want to name it; it’s Detroit Swindle in optima forma. It’s my favourite.

The CRUE remix is a jacked up, garage take on the first track Unfinished Business and is suited for the rougher (ware)house parties. It’s sporting a more dominating bass line and the vocals are detuned to sound less crisp and friendly. It’s a surprising, yet fresh and welcome addition to the originals.

The closing track is Woman. It starts off with atmospheric club banter and the same characteristic percussion style, packing more variety in the kick this time around. Every aspect of the track sounds like a grand finale, whether it’s the build up that makes you feel like you’re in a small stadium or the call-and-answer game between synth and the set of strings that is just meant to be.

Unfinished Business is made with an eye on the club and the boys have succeeded brilliantly in creating music that will fill and heat up the dance floor. The bridges are the moments you realize the power of Detroit Swindle. The way they build up their productions to the drops is sublime. Without using that many intricate special effects they know spot on how to make a track slam the hell out of you, giving enough reason to start taking over the dance floor with all you’ve got. Unfinished Business is available on wax and digitally since yesterday.

Jay Daniel | Scorpio Rising EP | Sound Signature

Jay Daniel Scorpio Rising EPListen

The latest EP on the indelible Sound Signature comes from an emerging young Detroit artist who goes by the name of Jay Daniel. Those just back from Dimensions festival in Croatia might have caught him DJ’ing there, and if you’ve been keeping tabs on his soundcloud over the past months then you’ll already know he’s a bringer of heat. 4 essential tracks of jagged House.

Sterling Sound Signature debut 12″ from 22 year old Detroiter, Jay Daniel. Ruff, rugged, and driving, the ‘Scorpio EP’ yields four tracks steeped in classic 313 house styles, and blessed with an irrepressible vitality bound to work marvels on the ‘floor. A-side ‘No Love Lost’ eases in with a tight blend of Omar-S like keys and bustling machine groove programmed with the itchy swing of Howard Thomas or Kyle Hall, and ‘Brainz’ knuckles down to a proper buck session a la Anthony Shakir, all noisy, tracky drums with nary a care for melody. B-side is a proper disco heater, ‘I Have No Name’, spilling stellar arpeggios over thumping kick/bassline and sophisticated, progressive chords, before our favourite, ‘Bubble Cougar’ really cuts loose with martial snare rolls and frankly lewd bassline to get you in the mood. Recommended!

Echo Inspectors’ “Parable” opens the ep. With a great selection of warm sound elements and an analogue drum set, the Melbourne based duo made a fusion of Dub and Detroit Techno. It´s the sound we love from their releases on their own Primary [Colours] imprint as well as from our Etui Winter Camp Compilation. Dub Techno genius Quantec, who already released on labels such as Echochord or Styrax, delivered a more down stripped track. His “Analogue Effusion” is based on delayed synth chords which get deeply modulated over a handful dry drums. When the bass kicks in, this turns into a dancefloor mover. The b side starts with “The Clouds Above Us” by Etui Records label head Insect O. Filtered chords and short pads create a dreamy sound scape and built up the tension step by step. Shaped drums are giving the track that drive to work well on the dancefloor. Frank Hellmond´s “True Lines” offers a deep house groove made of analogue drums and sweet synth loops. Rare vocal snippets are bringing in a kind Dub Techno feeling. The nice atmosphere of the track rounds it up.

Hardly anybody has brought electronic music from Berlin to the farthest flung corners of the world with more passion and enthusiasm than Apparat & Modeselektor.

In late 2012, twelve years after their first meeting, Modeselektor and Apparat have come together once again to reform their Moderat project: more mature, but not worldly-wise, wiser but not unquestioning, more experienced but without having sacrificed any of their pioneer spirit. The sophomore album “II”, released early August on Monkeytown Records, has been climbing the alum sales charts across Europe: Top 10 in Germany, Top 40 in Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Position 73 in the UK, something neither Apparat nor Modeselektor have accomplished on their own so far.

When the Moderat debut album was released on Bpitch Control in 2009, Modeselektor decided to release an “unofficial” remix 12inch on their newly formed 50 Weapons imprint featuring remixes by Shackleton, Headhunter and T++.

To follow this ritual, Moderat have now invited their friends Shed (present here under his prolific Head High moniker) and Marcel Dettmann to contribute remixes for the new album “II”. Again released as “unofficial” remixes, out of the regular line of singles on Monkeytown Records, you can enjoy 2 stunning techno reworks by 2 close friends, who happen to be none less than 2 of the world´s best producers.

Oliver Koletzki | Schneeweiss II | Stil Vor Talent Records

ListenOliver Koletzki Schneeweiss II

Over the years, Oliver Koletzki has continuously cited Berlin as a point of reference and, more importantly, a source of inspiration. Two of his albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 have been a direct ode to the capital. Friedrichshain, one of Berlins vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Olivers heat. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Moreover, the Stil vor Talent HQ is situated in the centre of the bustling Kiez. So is Schneeweiss, one of Friedrichhains best and most loved restaurants. Over the course of eight years, the stylish eatery has impressed many a Berlin foodie with its contemporary take on alpine cuisine and attention to detail. Music is part of the experience here, which is no surprise due to one of the owners extensive background in Berlins club scene of the early days. Pairing striking award-winning interior design with a homely laid-back atmosphere, Schneeweiss welcomes everyone with open arms: Kiez locals and celebrities, students and businessmen, hipsters and families all can be found here, Oliver Koletzki among them. Thus, after many a late-night label dinner an idea slowly formed. Why not join forces and collaborate on a compilation that represents both, Oliver Koletzkis and Schneeweiss taste? Compiled specifically with the restaurant in mind, SVT108 convinces as a tasty treat for the music connoisseur and a musical treat for the culinary aficionado. For the second instalment of the compilation, Oliver Koletzki is gathered stunning tracks by the likes of Âme, Stimming, Chopstick & Johnjon, Kruse & Nuernberg, Teenage Mutants and Labtracks, filled with melancholic melodies, subtle sunshine and blissful energy. After celebrating Rebekah´s label membership with several memorable appearances at CLR events and her excellent edition of the imprint´s popular Reconnected series, we can now present you her first CLR release of original tracks. “Cycles EP” consists of four of her own productions entitled Suicide Mind, Self Destruct, Equilibrium and Asymmetric, which vividly express her personal trademark style of uncompromising Techno from the dark, driving and hypnotic side of the genre. From the first time he heard one of her tracks, Chris Liebing was impressed by Rebekah´s characteristically thrifty and highly effective production style. Then her remixes and original productions kept showing up in his playlists more and more often, until he finally asked her to record a set for the CLR Podcast. From then on things went quite fast and only a few months later she became a part of the CLR booking agency. Everybody at the label is very happy to have her on board and this release of four top-notch tracks is the perfect proof of how well she actually fits into this bunch of dedicated and talented Techno heads. Despite the dynamic and relentlessness of her work, there also is an effortlessness and airiness about her productions. Controlled distortion goes hand in hand with an intoxicating groove and blends into Rebekah´s very own sonic recipe. The long list of her supporters contains several of the biggest players in today´s Techno scene and is constantly growing. “Cycles EP” is another milestone on Rebekah´s journey and we can only recommend you to pay attention to this inspiring release.

Almost a year after the latest release from our friend Ron Deacon, we are proud to present four new trax straight from the Farside camp. Shooting stars Paskal & Urban Absolutesrecorded an astonishing more clubby live version of their Farside classic in Moscow. Henry L is back with his extraordinary groove skills, some old school sample vibes and with a wink to Detroit. Matt Flores kills it with a smooth and demanding dub-tech monster and finallyHenry L & Ingo Sänger keep things hypnotic with a deep sunset tune.

“Ver” from Henry L & Ingo Sänger unifies the roughness of a dirty slow stomping groove with the beauty of melancholic chords. Thrilling strings and a male vocal snippet shape the cohesive elements of this tune which develops a hypnotic feel. The result is a unique track for special moments, which is a worthy successor after releases on imprints like Quintessentials, Luv Unlimited Vibes or Tokyo Dawn.

The new stars in Deep House heaven, Paskal & Urban Absolutes , deliver us their live rework of the Farside classic “Need Love” . This reduced, beefed up version shifts the focus more towards the clubs and definitely shouldn’t disappoint the dancefloors. We are happy to have our friends on board since they were really busy with plenty of remixes and the production of their wonderful debut album “Lux” for Sonar Kollektiv.

Henry L is the chief when it comes to the perfect groove. In this case it gets straight to the point. “Against The Grain” delivers the funk, blends its vivid raw beat with some creamy Detroit’ish synth chords, a clonky Bassline and soulful vocal sample bits. This uptempo soulboy groover creates a positive vibe reminiscent of the glory days of Soul Train and the Detroit Dance Show.

Farside veteran artist Matt Flores once again reveals his huge dub influences on his track”Astounding”. This perfect mixture of mystic pads, an 808 tom bassline and live percussion elements creates an incredible depth. Kind of minimalistic with every little detail exactly on the right spot, this might also appeal to the deep-dub-tech floors and should give you the Goosebumps, especially on a good sound system.

Miro Pajic | Reset Reset | Items & Things

Miro Pajic Reset Reset

A key figure of Items & Thingsʼ output since early 2012, Miro Pajic first appeared on the label with a remix of Marc Houleʼs “Undercover” (IT011), his debut swiftly followed by contributions to the Variables compilation (IT016) and a joint EP with Carreno is LB and Vicky Montefusco (IT018). “Reset Reset” marks his highly anticipated (and long-overdue!) solo EP for Items & Things.

From the discordant groove of EP opener “299” through the jagged hats and haunting reverberated synths lines of “Acid Friend”, the six originals on “Reset Reset” have been carefully crafted with the dance-floor in mind, capturing both Miroʼs trademark production warmth and hard-hitting dance-floor power. With the haunting female vocal of “Angles”, the mid-tempo machine-funk of “Ghettonup”, the sawtooth swagger of “Bleep Clone” and the serrated sample magic of “Moon Two”, these are pieces that sit somewhere between the romantic eeriness of Kubrick-esque soundtrack material and both the surreal and driving rhythms of contemporary house and techno. Miro’s inspired and conceptual sound architecture is one that shines in a variety of interpretations that are both abstract and powerful, enrapturing the listener both mentally and physically.

Kenny Leaven | Trident / Perseus | Souvenir Music

ListenKenny Leaven Trident - Perseus

It’s becoming a rarer and rarer thing nowadays, especially in this fast growing, overcrowded world of music, to find well educated musicians with the ability to read music and play instruments. Kenny Leaven (real name Andreas Braun), however, is one of the few. Besides running his own label Elenore Records since 2009, founding and organising Erfurts Bayou Festival, he is still producing quality music. Kenny’s new EP for Souvenir keeps in line with his unique, interstellar sound; two quirky, eccentric cosmic cuts which stand unparalleled by other producers right now. Both tracks on the single recall something of the Balearic euphoria of Todd Terje’s recent output as well as making humble references to the pumping analogue bass of Italo and more rigid early 80s electronic explorations. Step on board and prepare yourself for an interplanetary, cosmic journey through music history, expertly examined through a modern lens.

Tom Budden & Forrest | Some Kind of Friend EP | ALiVE Recordings

ListenTom Budden & Forrest Some Kind of Friend EP

Label head Tom Budden joins forces once more with Forrest after their well received collaboration on Audiojack’s ‘Gruuv’ label earlier this year. ‘Get Up In My Head’ kicks along in fine fashion with the duos troupes in full effect with that all important b-line gelling everything together in an infectious deep house ride. ‘Some Kind of Friend’ ups the energy level with a more anthemic feel and epic breakdown whilst Forrest himself provides vocals. James Welsh’s remix of ‘Get Up In My Head’ is an absolute beast – a gloriously deep yet uplifting slice of main room house music with a warm undulating synth unpinning the groove. Finally, ‘Copy Paste Soul’ provide a rerub of ‘Some Kind of Friend’, keeping the overall bigger room feel of the original whilst adding their unique production techniques to give a smart alternative mix.

There are times when changes suit well. Making something different always brings in some breathe of fresh air. Today we’d like to present to you our “breathe of fresh air”: Josep Corominas A.K.A. One D. This music producer from Girona bring us two purely electronic tracks. The album is named after its first track, Children of Atom, which introduces a real atoms storm and is aimed to the most mental techno lovers, and features a magnificent dub version by our in-house man Alex Celler. The second track, Moonlight, is a softer one. After the storm, there always comes the calm.
